Restoration > 1974 BMW 3.0 CS
A beautiful 1974 BMW 3.0 CS arrived in NCC for restoration this week. Rare and expensive but unfortunately not immune to the ravages of rust. This project is booked in for a serious amount of Body repairs. Stay posted for the next installment to see the nasties that lurk under that 70s orange paint.
The car has had 5 resprays over the years, originally it was a navy blue.
The CS has seen a lot of fiberglass and filler. Sections of this rear quarter came off in my hand!
The stylish rear end of the coupe is heavily rusted.
The wonderful bmw 6 cylinder M30 engine with twin Zenith 35/40 INAT carburetors producing 180hp. 0-60 mph in 8 seconds and a top speed of 132mph. No wonder the racing version, the 3.0CSL, dominated the touring car scene during the 70s, winning European Touring Car Championship 6 times!!
Typical luxury german interior, quite understated using high quality materials.
Inner and outer rear wheel archs are gone on both sides.
Large sections of the rear end crumbled in my hand.
